
The french horn is another high brass instrument like the trumpet, but it has a superpower – it can play as high as the trumpet and as low as the tuba!
It’s also unique because it’s the only brass instrument where you operate the valves with your left hand AND it’s the only instrument that points backwards!!!
The player buzzes into the mouthpiece and shapes the sound by placing their right hand directly into the bell.
It’s certainly not a cakewalk, though – playing the horn can be very, very, tricky; we often recommend that you start on trumpet first to develop your embouchure and air support.
