Baritone/Euphonium

Baritone Horn

Now, the baritone and the euphonium are actually different instruments, but for this presentation, we’ll pretend they’re not.

They look basically the same and they play exactly the same…it’s worth noting that most beginners start on baritone because it is lighter and less expensive.

The player holds the instrument in front of them with the bell pointing up, buzzes into the mouthpiece just like the trombone, and operates the valves with the right hand just like the trumpet.

The baritone plays all the same notes as the trombone (low brass) but because of its shape and construction, it produces a much more mellow, rich, dark, rounded sound.
