To celebrate Chopin’s 206th birthday, we host a ‘Chopin’s Night – Music and Wine’ event at our Concert Hall.

 

The Event started with welcoming remarks from our Piano Institution Sale Managers Chuck Cave and Piano Product Manager Renay Zhang. Chuck gave the audiences a brief introduction of Chopin’s biography in order to let them know more about Chopin. The highlights of the event definitely belong to the wine tasting and an old friend of Tom Lee Music, Vancouver Steinway Artist Robert Silverman’s fabulous performance. The hors d’oeuvres served were Miniature Brioche with Braised Short Ribs and Brie, crepe Purse with Procini Mushroom.

 

Each wine was paired with a piece from Chopin. 2004 Veuve Clicquot Brut Reserve Champagne was definitely the soul mate with Chopin’s Valse. Valse was originally written as a farewell piece to Maria Wodzińska, to whom Chopin was once engaged.

 

2012 Kilikanoon white wine is another good choice, with Dr. Silverman played Ballade No.4 in F minor, audiences indulged the night in Ballade’s contrapuntal melody. The rich texture is both powerful and exalted. It is unbelievable that it lasts only twelve minutes, for it contains the experience of a lifetime. Hors d’oeuvre served were Polenta cup with Chicken and Piave Chess, White Soy Caramel sablefish with miso Aioli.

 

Moreover, 2005 Fumanelli red wine is perfect match with Chopin’s Mazurka in c# minor. The Polish folk dance in triple meter, had a lively tempo which paired very well with the tone of the wine. The hors d’oeuvres served were Miniature Burgers with Smoked Cheddar, Tangerine Ginger Prawn Skewer, White Truffle Pancake with Grilled new York Steak, completed with a Dessert of Petite Brownie Bite with Ganache and Sea Salt.

 

Everyone enjoyed the night with music, wine and food. We thank you Dr. Robert Silverman for bringing us such artistic evening and thank you Marquis and Charton Hobbs by providing such delicious wine.
